Happy new year! Welcome to 2018.
It’s fresh start and time to make some healthy changes.
But…
I’m an all-or-nothing new year’s resolution person. I go CRAZY and try to change too many things all at once and overwhelm myself.
Then by February…failure. Sound familiar?
So, this year, let’s try something new.
Small changes. A little at a time. Master a small change before moving to the next! It adds up.
While my eating and exercise plan for 2017 fizzled out early, I did accomplish one thing with this small-steps strategy…
We cleared out most of the chemicals in our home (cleaning, toiletries, medicine cabinet) with essential oils, oil products and some DIY. It sounds complicated, but I actually feel like I’m starting 2018 simplified.
If you want a more natural, healthy, toxin-free home…here is a DO-ABLE yearly plan. Seriously.
January
Move More
Find whatever exercise that works for you! Try a few things, you never know what you will love. Just commit to doing something this year. And, drink more water! I add oils to mine to make more fun and enjoy the health benefits from Lemon, Lime, Grapefruit, Tangerine, Tangerine (did you see Tangerine?). Make sure your oils are PURE if you take them internally.
Peppermint essential oil is an awesome one for motivation, extra pep-in-your-step during a workout or to help cravings. And there are tons of oils and products for soothing your muscles after intense workouts.
February
Fix the Food
Each week this month, make a change. One week cut sugar, one week add veggies and fruits, etc. Food is medicine.
March
Love your Laundry
Switch out detergents for more natural options! And quite honestly they save loads of money. (see what I did there?)
April
Spring Clean your Spring Cleaning
May
Banish Bugs
June
Medicine Makeover
Add some staple oils to your medicine cabinet and notice yourself using your over-the-counter go-to’s less and less. Some great ones are peppermint for tummy and tension, lavender for relaxation, cedarwood for sleep, lime for mood boosting.
July
Swap the Soap
August
Kick lotion to the curb
Make your own natural and essential oil infused version and you will be shocked and how much you save and how soft your skin can be! Frankincense and lavender are great options for oils, and Coconut Oil and Shea Butter are excellent moisturizers.
September
Wellness in Winter
October
Teeth Trouble
November
Cut the Candles
December
Holiday Happiness
Start small. Just start. And in one year you will look back and see how these little adjustments have transformed your life.
My 2018 prayer is for you to experience this freedom to take back the control of your home and your wellness.
